Good question. We can write an essay on this subject as there is so much choice on the market. SkatesCool likes to keep it simple for you. Of all the current inline-skates on the market today we recommend either of these two models:

These inline skats are ‘K2 Alexis’ for women and ‘K2 Moto’ for men.

K2 make a whole range of recreational inline skates but we like these because they provide excellent foot support which is vital to help you maintain a good skating position. Padding and comfort are excellent. This skate has a metal frame and large wheels ideal for a mix of general recreational skating and street skating.

SkatesCool recommends these models of inline-skates for these reasons:

1. The boots are well made and will last for years.
2. The boots have lots of padding to adsorb all those bumps.
3. The boots have good support to hold your feet on the correct position.
4. Both these skates are good for fast speed, light jumps and slalom. They are good all-rounders.

They are by no means the only skates that are good and you are advised to try a few different pairs to find ones that are comfortable for your foot shape but we suggest these as a good place to start.

Inline Skates for Children.

For children SkatesCool recommends either of these:

K2 Missy (Girls) K2 Moto Jn (Boys).

1. These skates are well made.
2. These skates are well padded for comfort and offer good support.
3. These skates are adjustable in length and width and grow with children’s feet up to 5 sizes.

Do not buy ‘Aggressive’ skates! These are suited for ramps and special parks and do no not have a heel-brake. The wheels are too small for general use.
Do not buy ‘Speed skates’ These are suited for those lycra clad speed demons. The design is not for all round skating especially for a beginner. Speed skates are identified by having five wheels a long frame and a low cut boot with little ankle support.

Here is some good advice to ensure your new inline skates fit properly.
