Clissold Park. N16 Stoke Newington
Clissold Park is a brilliant place to skate made more brilliant because it seems that the skating community hasn’t discovered it yet. Not only is it very pretty with its mature Horse Chestnuts, planted gardens two large ponds and impressive wildlife but the paths are wide enough to skate three abreast and the tarmac is really smooth.
It’s quite large too at 54 acres. Not Hyde Park large but big enough to spend a few hours wheeling about without getting at all bored. It takes about 15 minutes to skate it’s perimeter. At the back of the manor house is a huge concreted area that looks tailor made for us skaters to put down a row of cones or practice crossovers on.

The manor house

Long smooth paths!
Clissold Park is well suited for skating families with children. You can skate up to the animal enclosure and say, ‘hi’ to the pygmy goats and fallow deer, have lunch in the picnic area or Mansion house CafĂ© then throw your crumbs to the swans and geese in Beckmere and Runsmere ponds. You can even kick off your skates if you must and throw a Frisbee or kick a ball on the massive green areas.

Hello goaty
Clissold park is a real credit to those who maintain it. Tree planting is obvious, there are loads of year round activities and sports. The busy community atmosphere is great so go and check it out and be impressed.

All this green in Hackney!
