There’re many options for a tourist visiting Buenos Aires to see the city: take a tour, go for a walk, ride on every bus you see, take a map… and then, there’s the funniest, coolest and hottest choice: come roller skating with us!!
The Buenos Aires roller blading group called PeL -an acronym for Patín en Línea, which means in line skating- was born in November 2001 with just a couple of people who happened to met and decided to give it a try on wheels. Soon, more and more people joined the brand new group and now, five and a half years later, there’re more than 300 skaters, a lot for a country where skates are hard to find.
There are different meetings in two main areas of the city: Puerto Madero -a kind of docklands area- and Rosedal –the main park in town. On Saturday, skaters meet at Puerto Madero around 3 p.m. and go around the city, passing by many tourist points -such as Plaza de Mayo, Avenida de Mayo, 9 de Julio, Recoleta, Facultad de Derecho- till finally stopping at Rosedal, where we all hang out and chat for a while (Intermediate level). Of course, it’s Buenos Aires we’re talking about, so ducking cars and potholes is included! On Sunday, skaters stay at Puerto Madero all afternoon long, which is great to make friends and get to know the locals (Beginner level). There’re meetings on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday as well, on different times. Of course, hockey is a must at the park!!
So, if you ever come to this city at the other side of the ocean, you’re welcome to join us. For more information, visit www.patinenlinea.com.ar
