Inline skate wheels wear out more on one side than the other. Most people’s skating styles tend to wear them on their inside edges creating sharp ridges on the outside making a wheel virtually unusable long before it has worn too small. How do you know when your wheels need to be rotated?
If you can see that your wheels are visibly wearing more on one side, it’s time to grab the allen key and do a little preventative maintenance on your skates. Keeping up on the rotation of your wheels can extend months to the life of your wheels. Remember new wheels are expensive!
Procedure:
1 – Use a 4mm allen key or Salomon Inline-skate tool to loosen the axle bolt, while holding the axle with a second tool.
2 – Remove the axles.
3 – Remove the wheels from the right skate and put them on the left skate exactly as indicated on the diagram below:
Ensure the ‘meaty’ side of the wheels is on the inside of the skate.

4 – Replace and tighten the Axle bolts, while holding the head of the axle on the opposite side with another key.
Job done!
Now go and clean your inline skate bearings.
